Mission

We at ORAC have built a platform which is of global standards and acts as a catalyst in the promotion of policy framework, research and development. We provide services for expert analysis, strategizing research models, managerial assistance project development, consultations and trainings in order to focus on emerging areas of public discourse. ORAC is lead by young professionals who come from diverse fields and have been contributing through their knowledge, experience, and expertise at different levels. The founders of ORAC believe in the idea of social change through their groundwork at the grassroot level.

The political situation in J&K is unique in terms of difference of interests, opinions and demands emanating from people within J&K belonging to different regions. The traditional political as well as non political establishments have not been able to provide a mechanism to bring all the regions and communities of J&K on the same platform. Moreover, they have also failed in the development and understanding of an ideology which is acceptable to all stake holders. ORAC is an attempt to move beyond this traditional idea of politics, intends to work at a deeper and micro level in order to understand the diverse ideologies, expectations and demands of the people and also to make the government functioning responsive to the feedback of the people. ORAC works at the grassroot level with people from diverse backgrounds to highlight the needs and issues of the people of this part of the world and work for articulation and aggregation of interests which have been overshadowed by politics and conflict. A multi-pronged approach based on the identification of issues, developing solutions, and participation of people in its execution can only make conflict a non-issue in J&K and bring about a visible and long lasting change.

As one of the first self-funded projects, we initiated a study of different tribal groups of J&K with a focus on one tribal community. The study report reflected the diverse needs of different communities in J&K going beyond the issues of conflict and politics.

ORAC aims to encourage voices from all quarters to build plurality of narratives and ideologies in the country with a special focus on J&K.

We believe in creating an active citizenry which participates in the process of governance and nation building with pragmatism. We intend to work with diverse decision makers in government, leading intellectuals and academia as research partners offering solutions and policy framework.
